Stranger Things Season 2 Review

One of the most exciting shows of 2016 was Stranger Things. A Netflix original series, it was one of the hottest shows of the year, winning multiple awards and propelling its young actors to stardom almost overnight. The good news for fans was that Stranger Things season 2 premiered on Halloween of 2017, and it was just about as good as the first.

If you still haven’t seen it, proceed with caution, as there may be spoilers ahead. Stranger Things season 2 has been one of the most popular shows on Netflix during the last quarter of 2017 and the very beginning of 2018. This is a great show to watch anytime, whether it’s with friends or when you’re getting over a breakup. Its mix of 80’s style and music, as well as its refreshing take on the thriller/horror genre, has made it one of the best new shows out there.

Stranger Things Season 2

The Whole Cast Is Back

One of the great things about the second season was that the producers were able to bring back all of the characters from the first one, along with a few new additions. Everyone’s favorite characters, including Eleven, Hopper, Steve, the four boys, and of course, the demogorgons, are all back.

The 80’s Flair

Another thing that makes a great return in Stranger Things season 2 is the 80’s vibes. From the cars to the arcade to the music, everything about the show exhibits this decade that seems to be having a major influence on pop culture these days.

The Upside Down

Keeping things interesting in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, is the return of the “Upside Down,” the slang name of the show’s mysterious other dimension. It’s studied at the Hawkins National Laboratory, a lab where scientists have a portal to the Upside Down and are working to stop the spread of a strange outbreak that has emerged from it.

Will has had experience in this other dimension.
Will is the only one who can see certain creatures from the Upside Down.

Soon, we find out that a shadow monster is threatening Hawkins. It’s made itself known to Will, who is sensitive to the other dimension because of the time he spent there during season 1. This being is only visible to Will during flashbacks he has to the other dimension.

Before long, Sheriff Hopper notices that there’s an unexplained series of tunnels spreading beneath Hawkins, which are first discovered by a group of pumpkin farmers who find that their crops are dying. Eventually these tunnels prove to be what the demogorgons and the shadow monster are using to spread away from Hawkins Lab, where the tunnels originate.

Season 3?

Without giving too much away, the second season of Stranger Things was another massive success. The entire production team did a marvelous job, earning a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a show worth watching. Season 1 should be viewed first, but if you’ve already seen it, go ahead and jump into the new season on Netflix!
